Quick facts about Cucho García:
- Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Started playing guitar in 7th grade and studied for two years with Miguel Alcaide who was the top requinto player on the island.
- Started playing piano at age 16 as an emergency substitute in a band he was playing guitar and sax.
- Continued playing through college (University of Puerto Rico) where he studied Business Administration.
- Started working at IBM in 1976 and playing music professionally was put on hold for 30 years until his retirement in February 2006.
- During the years that he was not playing professionally, he always played at church on Sundays and also played guitar for a few years with the Sentimental Journey Orchestra in Atlanta, GA.
- Recently recorded piano and guitar parts of the score for the movie Gordon Glass to be released shortly. The composer and arranger of the music is Luis Montilla who lives in L.A. and is a close friend of Cucho. They continue collaborating in several projects.
- Cucho and wife Tita were married in 1975. They have three children and three grandchildren. They reside in Alpharetta, GA.
